Welcome to Bethesda Lacrosse
NOW IN OUR 25TH YEAR!  Bethesda Lacrosse is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization established in 1989 to provide an outstanding opportunity for players, ages 5-15, to learn and play lacrosse. We have lacrosse programs for girls and boys and we have also developed a year-round Travel Program.

Our objective is to accommodate as many recreational players as possible, while providing top-notch competitive opportunities for advanced players.  Our goal is to give our community youth a great lacrosse experience including life-long lessons of sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership.

BOYS PLAYOFF WEEKEND SCHEDULE-RULES AND OTHER INFORMATION

Dear Parents and Coaches,
 

Please find the schedules and rules for the 2015 Bethesda Playoff Weekend rules.  Please make sure to read ALL rules and other items thoroughly.

All Bethesda League teams will play in this tournament. This tournament is a seeded, single elimination tournament.  This means you could have just one game, or multiple games throughout the day. Games will start at 8am and will go throughout the day until about 6pm.

BETHESDA TOURNAMENT RULES:
Rules will be as established by the Bethesda Lacrosse Association www.bethesdalacrosse.org as noted below: 


1.    Players may compete for only ONE team during the tournament.  Any player found to be playing on two teams will cause a forfeit for both of the teams they participated with.  Any team that uses an illegal player at any time in the tournament will be suspended immediately.  Roster checks will be enforced throughout the day . In addition, coaches can request before the game.  Submitted rosters at beginning of season will be used for player verification, no changes, additions or players not on rosters will be allowed.  Bethesda Lacrosse will have copies of certified rosters for referees.

2.    Seedings for the tournament were determined by division league games only.  (Except 2nd/3rd Grade Division-see #3)
 
3.    2ND/3RD GRADE DIVISION ONLY- Seedings were done based on the strength of the Teams – as determined by the League Commissioner – based on strength of schedule and results during the regular season. 

 
4.    There will be no stick checks unless requested by the opposing coach, and if the stick is found not to be illegal, the challenging team will be charged a timeout.  If no timeouts remain, a delay of game technical foul will be assessed.
 
5.    Games will be running on 10 minute running quarters on Saturday and 12 minute running quarters on Sunday.
 
6.    There will be a “Mercy Rule” for all age groups.   If a Team establishes a lead of 10 goals – the game will be ended by the referee.
 

7.    Sudden victory overtime will be used to decide all ties in playoff games.
 
8.    If there are any questions regarding rules, the referee’s decision on the field will be the final ruling.

9.    Any player, coach of fan ejected from a game or field during the tournament will be prohibited from playing, coaching or watching any additional games in the tournament.

OTHER IMPORTANT ITEMS:

  • We are guests at Bullis.Please be sure to clean up ALL of your trash.We encourage all reusable PLAYER LABELED water bottles.

  • We will be having our Annual Attic Sale held at Bullis from 9am-5pm on Saturday, which will have limited quantity merchandise (shirts/shorts, etc) at VERY discounted prices!  GET YOUR FREE CAR DECAL AND TATOOS AT THE BETHESDA LACROSSE BOOTH!

  • PJ's Sports and Dick’s Sporting Goods will also be there out through out the day. Please be sure to come by the Bullis Stadium at some point throughout the day!

  • BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND- Don't miss our 2nd Annual Coaches Lacrosse Game, which will be held on Sunday, May 31st at 5:30PM on the Bullis turf. Over 30 of our coaches came out to play!Come on out and cheer on your coaches! CARMEN’S ITALIAN ICE AND PIZZA BEING SERVED!

  • EQUIPMENT SWAP! Please bring out any outgrown lacrosse gear you may have for someone else!  All leftover donations will be donated to Play it Forward.

BOYS AND GIRL SUMMER INSTRUCTIONAL CLINIC REGISTRATION

SUMMER EVENING CLINIC SESSIONS

 

 

BOYS:

 

SUMMER INSTRUCTIONAL EVENING CAMP:

This camp focuses on both developing individual skills and teamwork. The camp will focus on player position skills, passing and catching, shooting, ground balls, face-offs, defense, offense, dodging and a basic understanding of team tactics. This camp will be overseen by Clinic Commissioner Kevin Bookman, and coached by a cadre of Bethesda Lacrosse coaches including Bethesda Lacrosse Alumni currently playing at Division I programs and high school players committed to play in Division I programs. Perfect for beginner players up to three years of experience.

This will be an intensive 4 day (evening) program that will provide the same skill development that a normal 7 week introductory clinic would provide that is held in the spring or fall.

After successful participation in the summer clinic, players will be eligible to play in the Bethesda Lacrosse League in the fall and will be allowed to register for teams in their age category.

FEE: $165

BIRTHYEARS: Rising Kindergarten through 8th grade

DATES:  MONDAY, JUNE 22nd THROUGH THURSDAY JUNE 25th

LOCATION:  HOOVER MS-

TIME:  6:00PM TO 8:00PM

All players MUST have a mouth guard, protective cup, helmet, shoulder pads, arm guards, gloves, and stick. PLEASE BRING REUSABLE WATER BOTTLES ONLY WITH LAST NAME ON IT!

Summer 2015 Instructional Evening Lacrosse Clinic/Camp:

Players of all levels are welcome, please note experience when registering.  Players will be broken out into groups based on age/ability for skill instruction. Sessions will be led by post collegiate and current collegiate players assisted by experienced local high school players. Upon completion, players will be able to register for a fall team.

FALLBALL LEAGUE PLAY


DATES: SUNDAYS, SEPTEMBER 13TH THROUGH OCTOBER 25TH (NO RAIN DATES)

LOCATION: Fields in Bethesda, Potomac and Rockville

AGES: KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 8TH GRADE

Players must have either participated in the previous spring or summer Instructional/Introductory Clinic, or another program /camp acceptable to Bethesda Lacrosse. The decision to accept another program's course of instruction is solely that of the Bethesda Lacrosse House Commissioner. All players must have full equipment.

 

YOUR SON MAY ONLY PARTICIPATE ON ONE TEAM WITHIN THIS LEAGUE.  THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED! ABSOLUTELY NO TRAVEL CLUB PLAYERS EXCEPT FOR 1ST/2ND GRADE LEAGUE.  Club Travel teams refer to: ie., Club Blue, Next Level, MadLax, MD Elite, Performance, Breakout, MDX)..

 

BOYS CLINICS:

Times: 9:45am-10:45am

Location: North Bethesda Middle School

Early Introduction to the game for Boys in Pre-School. No equipment necessary-Stick and t-shirt provided with registration.

INTRODUCTORY CLINIC-   

GRADE Eligibility: KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 8TH GRADE

Dates: Saturday mornings beginning Saturday, September 12th, through October 24th (NO RAINDATE).

Times: 8:00am-9:30am

Location: North Bethesda Middle School

Basic skills and fundamentals will be taught in small group drills, progressing to learning positions, rules, and limited strategy. The last two sessions will feature small-sided scrimmages. All players will need FULL equipment. Your son will not be permitted to play without a mouth guard. Players who complete the Fall 2015 Instructional Clinic will be eligible to participate in the Spring 2015 Instructional/Scrimmage Clinic or move onto a team, unless not deemed appropriate by Clinic coaches.
 

All players MUST have a mouth guard, protective cup, helmet, shoulder pads, arm guards, gloves, and stick.
